New efficiency legislation that took effect in the USA on June 1, 2016 has forced all new asynchronous motors, 2-, 4-, 6- and 8-pole, single speed, with a power rating from 1 to 500 HP (0.75 to 373 kW) to meet the efficiency requirements according to NEMA MG1 Table 12-12 and IEC energy efficiency class IE3.
